Itinerary Rim to Rim 2014
Everyone arrives to North Rim of Grand Canyon Thursday, May 22, 2014. Campsites 14 & 15.
R2R HIKE SCHEDULE
Day 1, Friday, May 23:
North Kaibab Trailhead to Cottonwood Camp
Wake predawn to pack camp, finalize packs, and descend to Cottonwood Camp.
Transport via cars (Nichols and Abeln) or shuttle
On trail by 5am
6.8 miles
Side Trip: Ribbon Falls, a mile or so side hike for evening.
Camp Night 1: Cottonwood; seasonal tap water, Bright Angle Creek with water and shade, compost toilets
Day 2, Saturday, May 24:
Cottonwood Camp to Indian Garden 11.9 total miles
Early start (5am) to avoid midday "inferno" of "The Box"
hike along Bright Angel Creek (with water filter or tablets water is available).
7.2 miles (first leg)
Reach Phantom Ranch/Colorado and enjoy lunch and air conditioning in the Canteen! Spend day by river, creek, or in the Canteen.
4pm hike to Indian Grarden to avoid midday heat of "Corkscrew"
4.7 miles (second leg)
Camp Night 2: Indian Garden Campground
Optional Side Trip if our legs are still working: Sunset (7:33) at Plateau Point, mile and quarter from campground
Day 3, Sunday, May 25
HIKE OUT Indian Garden to Bright Angel Trailhead
4.9 Miles
Start early (5am)
Take it slow, "hike a little, rest a little."
Rest houses with toilets and tap water at 1.5 and 3 miles.
Arrive at South Rim before midday heat.
We did it! Celebrations!
Individual reservations for the night at Maswik Lodge.
Dinner, beer, and sunset celebration!
Monday May 26
Transport back home or to North Rim

Here's what Biggs and I have:
Wednesday May 21st
Depart St.Louis at 7.25am
Arrive into Flagstaff at 11:28am
Take ArizonaShuttle from airport at 1:00pm to South Rim, arrive at 2:45
Check into Maswik Lodge on the south rim anytime after 4:00pm
Thursday May 22nd:
Rise early and catch 8:00am shuttle via TRANSCANYON SHUTTLE services
Arrive at the North Rim campgrounds by 12:30pm.
Meet up with group and set up camp.
Explorer north rim a bit, maybe grab a meal at the Lodge.
Watch sunset on Canyon! Hit the sack!
Friday May 23rd, Saturday May 24th, Sunday May 25th

Sunday May 25th(after triumphantly ascending the Grand Canyon South Rim!)
Celebrate!!
Still need to make plans for lodging this night!
We would like to get another hotel that night, these are filling up quick!
Is anyone else interested getting a room that night, hot shower and comfy beds?

Monday May 26th:
Catch ArizonaShuttle from Maswik Lodge to airport at 10:00am
Arrive at airport-11:45am
Depart Flagstaff-4:55pm
Arrive St.Louis- 11:44pm
We just booked a room at Maswik Lodge for the night of the 25th. There was not much left. Thanks for heads up Trev!
