Food

Thought I would post up what I’m bringing for food. My only meals that will require me to fire up my stove are dinners/camp food. All other meals will be ready to eat and on the go foods, this will cut down on time as well as the cleanup and unpacking/repacking of the stove, pots and utensils.

This is what I have packed and ready to go.

(2) Mountain House Mac & Cheese meals(Dinner)- Highest calorie content of their meals at 930 per the package. Just add hot water and wait. These will be my meals and I may add some cut up landjager sticks to protein and fatten the meal up.

(2) Ramen Noodle packs(Dinner Supplement/Late Night bed time meal) -420 calories each.
I'm still debating kicking these from the pack since but they are so light hand small I'll probably keep them.   Decided to kick these out of the pack. Though light they will require more fuel to make, will replace with something that can I can eat without cooking.

Landjager sticks- Getting these Bavarian cured beef sticks from G&W- Landjager is a German hiking/mountaineering cured meat stick. Needs no refrigeration or packaging, packs easily, is great to eat on the go or cut up and throw in my mac&cheese or ramen. These taste great!  High fat & protein content and pack about 1600 calories per pound. I’m probably doing 1.5 pounds.

(2) Walgreens Brand Brownies individually wrapped- Found these on sale, small and pack 410 calories. These will be my breakfast, who needs powerbars…

(3) Bread Co Bagels- Probably going with Cinnamon Crunch- These have about 420 calories each. These will probably be my lunch.

(4) Peanut Butter Go packs. Small and easy to pack, provides a serving of peanut butter in each go pack which equals 250 calories.

(2) Full Small ziplock bags of homemade trailmix. My mix includes peanuts, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, honey nut granola, raisins and pecans. No chocolate added since it will melt in the canyon heat and make a mess.  These small bags factor about to about 1500 calories each. I figure these will be what I snack on through out the day.

(1)  Full Small ziplock of Cheese It’s- Roughly 500 calories

(1) Bag of Pizzaria Combos-780 calories

(3) Hot Chocolate Mixes-

10 Nutter Butter Peanut Butter Cookies-Two cookies = 130 calories

1 box of Mike&Ike’s –a guy has to have his candy… 400 calories.

So there you have it! I'm hoping we all eat at the North Rim lodge the night before we descend as well as eating at the South Rim in one of the restaurants when we climb out.  Let me know what you guys think of my list. I would love to see what you guys are bringing as well! Bon Appetit!
